The Trump administration seems to be bad for America's travel industry. @AxiosNews reports on a 20% drop in foreigners passing through customs at the busiest U.S. airports towards the end of March. A Goldman Sachs note said that some of the drop "is likely attributable to tighter immigration policy," but the timing — after the escalation of tariff news — suggests that "a more antagonistic policy stance by the Trump administration is contributing to a voluntary decline in visits."
"Based on some of the route cuts and overall sentiment we're hearing from airlines, I wouldn't be surprised to see the arrivals rates for international travelers drop even further in the coming weeks," Sean Cudahy, aviation reporter at The Points Guy, told Axios.
